My Painting

Hi guys I'm back, for the past week we have been drawing and painting NZ Native Birds. I choose the Piwakawaka also know as a Fantail. The Materials that we used where Water Strength Cartilage Paper, Chromacryl Paint (I used Blue, Green, Brown and Black.)

Here are the different steps to making one of these paintings
1. Draw up your bird.
2. Get some paint and colour of your choice.
3. Then paint the background.
4. Once dried do a second coat of your background.
5.  Then paint your bird in and when dried paint a second coat of your bird.
6. When that has dried flex your bird out by painting dots of white or something on it.

One thing that I like about my painting is probably my background and it looks even better now Iv'e done the second coat.
I don't really like how my painting is organised because its a little bit messy.

Matariki

Hi Guys 👋
I'm back. Around a week ago we started reading about Matariki, if you don't know what Matariki is there is information in the drawing. The story was about Taranaki not being able to see Matariki that well because of their angle on the earth. Instead they look for another star called Puanga/ Rigel which is a very bright star. Once we had finished reading this I had a lot more understanding of Matariki, because when I first looked on Matariki I only knew it was a cluster of seven stars and was the Maori new year.
Hope You Enjoy!

Hope you like my DLO. I named all the stars so they're in the right place.
I thought this work was quite easy but it was sometimes hard to think of new information

My Flood House

WALT: Combine my prior knowledge with new learning to say what I think. Last week we had to listen to a story about Samoa and their coastal properties. Then after we had to design a flood proof house. In my house I have sea walls to protect my house if the water floods, and pillars stuck in the ground to give elevation to the house. If you would like to check out the website that I used here it is.

This work was quite interesting and fun. One of the reasons on why it was fun is that we used Tinkercad, which we hadn't used in quite a while. Next time I would probably design a bigger house and maybe put a gate.

Tiritiri Matangi Trip

Last Week we went to Tiritiri Matangi Bird Sanctuary. This Island is a pest free island with lots of birds, mainly native birds. Before we got there we had to get to school at 7:30 AM! Then we were put into groups. My group had Ben, Alex, Abby and Shabeera. Our parent was Dustine (Lavinia's Dad) and he named our team the Blazers. Then we caught the ferry and the ferry took around one hour and thirty minutes. When we got to Tiritiri we got put with a volunteer that guided us through the island. On the walk we saw lots of Kereru  and Tui. We also saw quite a lot of Bellbirds. When we got to the lighthouse we had lunch and then we went on a scavenger hunt. When that was done we walked down to the beach to catch the ferry before we got back on the bus and drove back to Waikowhai Primary School. If you would like to check out the island yourself here is the website
