Matariki Artwork

Hi, Guys today we are making Maori art pieces for Matariki.

Ponamu are Maori Charms they are made of green stone/jade. These are given as gift. Last Term we made these out of clay we had a knife, toothpick, and of course the clay.
Here are the pics!

One of the other rotations we did was in Waitemata. In Waitemata we had to make feathers representing us and then they put onto paper and altogether and made a cloak. The feather that represented me had the American colours on it to represent where I'm born and also had some cool pasifika patterns on the feather.

Enjoy The Pics!

The final rotation we had was making kites first you had to make a triangle with wooden sticks, then you had to double knot round each end. After that you had to make seven strips of cardboard all getting progressively smaller. Once finished that you would then place your strips on the triangle and tie them on then you were finished.

  2. Hi Bruno,
Samantha from rm4 kahikatea hub here. I really like the one that you made out of paper feathers. It reminds me of something we made at the start of the year.

    Keep up the great blogging
